Citi Teen Center Bike Club Connects Sheriff’s Office Bike Squad with Local Teens

On November 17, 2021, Club members at the Citi Teen Center Boys & Girls Club kicked off the inaugural ride of the Citi Teen Center Bike Club.

The Bike Club is a partnership between the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) Bike Squad and Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida. The club provides our members with the opportunity to experience a JSO Bike Squad route through the historic Springfield neighborhood surrounding the Citi Teen Center Boys & Girls Club.

Since their inaugural ride, these teens have continued to meet weekly with the JSO Bike Squad as we implement a two-pronged approach to success.

First, the Bike Club aligns perfectly with three of the five BGCNF core program areas:

  • Leadership & Service

  • Health & Wellness

  • Sports & Recreation

The second area of focus is centered on breaking down stigmas surrounding:

  • Law enforcement

  • People of color

  • Urban neighborhoods

Our young people get to know local law enforcement on a personal level, and the officers build meaningful relationships with our teens as well.

Because of the nature of the program, the partnership is on full display throughout the Springfield community. This shows the community that JSO and BGCNF are collaborating and actively working with our future leaders of the next generation.

We look forward to growing the club in the future while continuing to set new goals and objectives for the program.
